Cornish History Comes Alive

The Cornish Caretaker Tour brought Cornish history alive in school today.

We laughed out loud as they showed us how many famous people, and their inventions, have come from Cornwall.

Christmas Lunch 2018

Today the whole school came together for their annual Christmas Lunch. Crackers were cracking, bells were jingling and the Christmas tunes were playing. Staff had great fun serving the children the festive feast.

Christmas Craft 2018

Christmas has arrived at St Catherine's! Once again, pupils and staff had great fun during our Christmas Craft Day. Using lots of glitter, paint, marshmallows and salt dough was the order of the day.

Year 5 and 6 Residential

Three days of fun, learning and great experiences mixed with a little sleep!

Wednesday - We The Curious

Wow, what a fantastic, exciting place to explore!

After an interesting day exploring, we walked back to the YMCA and found our rooms. It was great to spend some time relaxing with our friends before tea and then a trip to the park.

Thursday - Bristol Zoo

After breakfast, a walk to the zoo. The day was overcast and sometimes damp, but this did not dampen our spirits. When we arrived we split in to our respective year groups to enjoy two workshops. Year 5's looked in to 'Adaptation and Evolution' while Year 6 experienced 'Endangered Species and Habitat'. Both workshops were extremely interesting and have excited us to help 'save Our Oceans' from plastic.

Friday - SS Great Britain

A beautiful, majestic ship, which we were very lucky to explore. We were able to experience the hardship, sights and smells of life on board.

During a 'Passenger Investigation Workshop' we became historical investigators. Asking ourselves the questions, where, when and why, we were able to work out who each character was by the artifacts we were given.
Bristol is a beautiful, exciting, interesting city which we all thoroughly enjoyed exploring.

Sport Relief 2018

This afternoon the whole school took part in Walk a Mile for Sport Relief. The afternoon began with Year 3 leading a wake & shake routine to get everyone warmed up, ready to go. Then the children along with their teachers, parents and even some grandparents walked 4 laps of the school to complete a mile for this worthy cause. Even better than that, everybody was having such a good time, out walking or running in the sunshine, that they carried on and on, with many managing to walk up to 4 miles. It was a great event, with the older children helping their younger friends making for a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Well done everyone, you did brilliantly.

World Book Day 2018

Even though the day had to be rescheduled due to snow, the children came in dressed up looking amazing. They never cease to amaze us with the different characters they are able to create.
During the morning we had a whole school read. The children were able to choose which story they wished to listen too. For the rest of the day, everyone carried on with their learning but with a World Book Day theme.
